Adam Coy is a Harlem based director, actor, and theatre artist originally from San Antonio, TX. Ethnically a mix of Ukrainian Jewish and Tejano, his search for a tangible sense of identity as a multi-ethnic American deeply influence his artistic point of view.
The Theatre he seek to create: honors the past by retelling it, push the boundaries of what can happen in a physical space, feels like a fairy-tale-and-the-internet-and video-games-and-a-rap-battle, mixes forms, makes my ancestors proud, and doesn’t alienate my friends that have never seen a play and would rather be on the block.
Adam is a founding member and artistic associate of The Egg & Spoon Theater Collective, who’s mission is to investigate the current moment through theater. Coy spearheads Egg & Spoon’s new play development program, The Incubation Series. He is an Associate Member of SDC, a member of the 18-19 SDC Foundation Observership Class, SDCF Observer (Chay Yew, The Public Theater), 1/3 of his brothers production company Los Tres Hermanos, and a recipient of The Syracuse University department of drama Josephine Abady award for excellence in directing.
As an Actor, Adam is a member of The Flea Theater’s resident acting company (The Bats) working on world premieres by Taylor Mac, Thomas Bradshaw, Steph Del Rosso and others. He has also collaborated with The New Dramatists, Westport Country Playhouse, Pipeline Theater Company, Joust Theater and others.

If our species has lost connection to family, perhaps we have lost something that cannot be recovered. But does anything really matter anyway?
